In the latter part of the nineteenth century, this young French girl received various apparitions of the Blessed Mother at Lourdes, who asked her to tell the people to pray, do penance, and recite the Rosary--especially for sinners. Bernadette humbly embraced the honor of the Virgin's visits and the messages she was asked to share. The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes continues to exist as a place of reconciliation and healing, revealing how one girl's trust in Mary has truly blessed the world.
