"Faithful Learning and the Christian Scholarly Vocation is an edited collection exploring the relationship between the Christian faith and the intellectual life, specifically within the Christian college or university. It offers a theological foundation for understanding the motives, aims, and practice of faith and learning integration within the academy, and then goes on to consider some of the important intellectual challenges and opportunities faced by Christian higher education in the twenty-first century. Drawing on annual H. I. Lectures sponsored by the Association of Southern Baptist Colleges and Universities (ASBCS), the volume expresses the rich resources contemplated within the Free Church tradition for developing a theology of higher education, one that matches the commitment to higher education evidenced by the missionary zeal with which their churches have founded colleges and universities.
