According to the author, the revealed mystery in which everything comprises the whole, and each element has its meaning in being integrated into that whole, can be compared to a cathedral: "Scattered stones by themselves can retain their singular beauty, but it is only in the whole reality that each one plays its role." More than a half century ago Father Durrwell published his groundbreaking work that showed that the Resurrection is truly part of the whole mystery of redemption and salvation, not merely a validation of faith. His subsequent books treat the same subject. In Christ Our Passover Father Durrwell gathers together the components of his earlier research: "Here the desire was awakened to bring together the elements scattered in these works, to bundle the sheaves and make of them 'the evening offering.'" The resulting synthesis is an admirable testament to the work of this exacting theologian, who has left a profound mark on the history of theology.
