I Happened Upon a Miracle is a collection of first-person narratives told in the voices of people in the life of Jesus, from the Christmas story through the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Some of the people portrayed in the 18 vignettes include Joseph, the innkeeper in Bethlehem, a witness to Jesus’ healing (Matt. 12:9–15), a little boy in the crowd fed by the loaves and fishes, the prostitute who washes Jesus’ feet in the house of the Pharisee, a centurion on hand as Jesus drives the money-lenders from the Temple in Jerusalem, and the keeper of the garden near Jesus’ tomb.
