I was flying home from a trip. Going from one airport gate to another required me to ride a little train to a different area of the terminal. As I waited for the train, an elderly woman came up to me and asked, “Does this train go to the baggage claim?” I told her it did. She hesitated and then said, “Will I know when to get off?” I responded that I would be happy to guide her to where she needed to go. A look of relief came on her face. We rode the train together. Then I walked her to the escalator that would take her to the baggage claim. It was on my way. No real effort on my part was required. She said goodbye by exclaiming, “You have done a wonderful thing today!” I had not considered what I had done “wonderful,” but for her it was something important. Now and then, I do believe God uses even me to make a difference in someone’s life. That is not an ego thing for me; it is simply a recognition that God can use us when the time is right. Let’s explore today how God can guide us to fulfill a wonderful purpose in this world.
