To conclude that stopping our ears to God's word leads to avoidable tragedy
$9.49
Product Description
Infusion Bible eStudies are downloadable small group studies that can be read online, printed, or emailed. Each study includes a leader guide and a study guide and is suitable for a one-hour group Bible study.

Listen...to the words of the Scripture, and in them discover God's message for you today.

Look...at a brief verbal snapshot from the scrapbook of contemporary life and discover its connection both to you and to the Scripture passage.

Live...inside the Scripture to discover its context and message; then allow the Scripture to come alive in you and cause you to live out your faith in new and more-effective ways.

Read an excerpt from this study below.

--------------------------

Every age has prophets of gloom; but one who got my attention was the late Carl Sagan, a respected astronomer of the twentieth century. One day in 1983, I read an article by Sagan that chilled me to the core. He was telling about the probable effects on our planet of a nuclear war. His prediction, based on careful study, was that the event would usher in a globally catastrophic “nuclear winter.”

In the scenario Sagan projected, an atomic war would release enough chemicals to burn away the earth’s ozone layer, causing a temperature drop that would plunge our planet into a deep freeze. Crops, farm animals, and undomesticated food sources, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, would be wiped out. Those humans who survived the freeze would starve to death. And then there were the effects of the radioactive fallout. The deep cold would last for months; and once the warm-up began, there would be new health dangers as a billion toxic, unburied human bodies began to thaw.

Prophets have their place, and often it is to call for critical change before the course the hearers are on results in great catastrophe. Zephaniah understood this, for he was one of the doom-and-gloom boys. His message was that stopping our ears to God’s word leads to avoidable tragedy.
