Message on back panel reads:
Completion At Calvary
One of the most magnificent words ever uttered, a word reverberating down the corridors of time, until time shall be no more, and the glories of Eternity shine forth upon us, was the last word our blessed Lord Jesus Christ spoke upon the Cross of Calvary: “TETELESTAI!” “It is finished!” (John 19:30)
Finished was the might work He was sent upon earth to accomplish. His matchless life, His loving compassion, His forgiving spirit toward those who were so cruel to Him - all these were His completed work.
In somber hues the artist has portrayed the deeper message of Lent and of Good Friday. “The Old Rugged Cross” is there as the symbol of our salvation through God’s grace as we receive Jesus Christ into our hearts.
There is also the Bible, for from the Holy Scriptures we have learned who He was, and is. Precious to Jesus was the Old Testament, which He new as a lad.
The disciples wrote in the New Testament of their loving devotion to Him - all through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
May we, His faithful followers, resolve to finish the worthwhile tasks, which we have planned, to His honor and glory, and to the continual up-building of His Church.
Our Lenten Offering is once again a symbol of our solemn promise of fidelity to the very end - and beyond, for that brings to the bright, shining glory of Easter.
