Jazz and pop singer JAHNEEN presents a mix of beloved hymns (Just As I Am and Amazing Grace), the Christian pop favorite “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher”, her own original “Blessings” and an arrangement of the Navajo prayer “Peace Before Us” plus more soulful spirit songs on her first Church Publishing recording.
As an active musician in New York City, Jeannine Otis has a broadly-based career not only as a performer with popular artists, but also as composer, actress, jazz pianist, and church musician. She was the Associate Producer of Church Publishing’s recording And the Word Was Hip Hop and was one of the two vocalists.
“Praising God and creation, outreach, and searching for spiritual healing . . . beginning with myself, through music . . . has been a huge part of what I do as an artist for a long time now.” says Jeannine. She is the director of music at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery in New York City where she has been a pioneer in the musical worship concept of “blending” and has written The Three Kings [Los Tres Reyes] performed at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, and directs the Good Friday Blues at St. Mark’s.
