For sixteen-year-old Scout Rose, being told that she couldn't play baseball because she was a girl was just the changeup that broke the hitter's bat. With her father's death still fresh, she moves from Kansas City to the small town of Booneville, Texas, to live with her sister who disapproves of her tomboyish ways. In her new home, she finds herself in a fight against the town to keep playing the sport she and her daddy loved. Angry and bitter, Scout closes herself off from everyone around her-including God. But sometimes God teaches the greatest lessons through the deepest hurts; and through some unlikely means, Scout discovers that God is always faithful-even when she is not. She finds Diamonds in the Dirt.
