What is important for young believers? Four major concerns are instructed by Paul: leadership, acknowledging ones role, focusing on God's grace and responding properly. Leadership is to reside in elders to provide sound teaching and protect from false doctrine. There are certain roles in life particularly appropriate for different classes of people. The roles for men and women, young and old, and slaves or bond-servants are important, having spiritual implications. Important guidelines are defined. The motivation for abiding by these instructions is to focus on God's grace who gave Himself for us that He might purify for Himself a people for His own possession zealous of good works. Finally it is important that young believers know how to respond properly to authorities, people in general, toward good works and unprofitable arguments. Godly elders to oversee, godly roles to perform, God's grace to enable and responses that please God provide a foundation upon which spiritual growth will prosper.
