All believers experience the challenge of building understanding and defending the disposition of their God and their belief when the very basis of their faith is being questioned. This book is for those who are not experts in the field of apologetics but have a passion to make Christ known and accepted by others in their workplace and daily life. Essential subjects and Scriptures common to Christian apologetics and evangelism are examined using the "great commission" of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 28:16-20 as a foundation. Simple, understandable answers are given to critical questions that a Christian may confront, such as, Does God Exist? Is Jesus the Christ? Is the Bible True? What is the importance of baptism? Did the resurrection of Jesus really happen? What are the essential teachings of personal evangelism? What are the components of the Great Commission of Christ, and how do we obey it? Dr. Pickard has been a Christian for over fifty years and has held executive positions in business, education and government including executive level management positions in major universities, a private corporation, a government authority and city management. He has served his community on a hospital board, community service boards and regional councils. He has always demonstrated award winning results in these endeavors and produced successful subordinates. His teaching skills have been recognized in several fields as exemplary and highly effective. The author's education includes an Associate of Science in mechanical engineering from Chattanooga State Technical Community College; a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a management certification from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Tennessee; a Master of Business Administration from the University of Richmond, E. Claiborne Robins School of Business in Richmond, Virginia; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Apologetics from the Newburgh Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana.
