From the missionary who coined 'The 10/40 window'
In 1990, Luis Bush changed modern missions by introducing the concept of the 10/40 window, a geographic region with people under severe socioeconomic distress and limited access to the gospel. It essentially came to represent the area of greatest need in the world, a place where massive populations were perishing without hope.
Now, over 25 years later, and after decades of inquiry and observation, Luis and team have a much clearer view of what God is doing in the world. The statistics and maps were a great place to start, but it's time to move further. The Yes Effect explores ways to restart our hearts, regain our sensitivity, and get in sync God's tender heart for the oppressed, those suffering violence, disease, poverty, drugs, abandonment, and disasters.
In The Yes Effect, Dr. Bush shares his own interesting story as well as the inspiring stories of individuals and organizations around the world whose acts of love and justice are bringing hope and transformation in places of misery and immobility. From the orphans weeping in Bihar, India, to the relentless requests of a garbage collector in Cairo, Egypt; and from the single mom trying to find a way to feed her family as a Syrian refugee, to the Church cowering under government control; the reader will learn innovative ways to prepare, engage, empower, and set off a chain reaction of transformation in the most difficult of circumstances. They will even gain a vision for training those on the inside of the window to step out and do the same.
For those who look at all that is wrong in the world and don't know what to do, The Yes Effect is a great place to start. It will give you a broad overview of missionary activity today and help you to find your place in it. Ultimately, it will inspire you to give God your "yes," like so many others have before you, so that you might be part of the great things God is doing in His world.
