7 Therefore, brothers and sisters, you must be patient as you wait for the coming of the Lord. Consider the farmer who waits patiently for the coming of rain in the fall and spring, looking forward to the precious fruit of the earth. 8 You also must wait patiently, strengthening your resolve, because the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Don’t complain about each other, brothers and sisters, so that you won’t be judged. Look! The judge is standing at the door!
10 Brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord as an example of patient resolve and steadfastness.
Jane Marshall has been known for many years for her anthems and for her choral conducting, which she still teaches at Perkins School of Theology, SMU. Also a poet and hymn tune writer, she is represented in many hymnals and served as a consultant to the committee preparing the 1989 United Methodist Hymnal. She is the author of Grace, Noted, a collection of homilies, poems, and lectures.
Jane holds holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Southern Methodist University, where she has also served on the English, Music, and Seminary faculties. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Hymn Society of America, Mu Phi Epsilon, Pi Kappa, Lambda, The American Guild of Organists, and Choristers Guild Guild.
