Therefore, brothers and sisters, you must be patient as you wait for the coming of the Lord.
7 Therefore, brothers and sisters, you must be patient as you wait for the coming of the Lord. Consider the farmer who waits patiently for the coming of rain in the fall and spring, looking forward to the precious fruit of the earth. 8 You also must wait patiently, strengthening your resolve, because the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Don’t complain about each other, brothers and sisters, so that you won’t be judged. Look! The judge is standing at the door!
10 Brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord as an example of patient resolve and steadfastness.
"Ramsey's use of biblical, theological, and philosophical material for ethical reflection was unparalleled at the midpoint of the twentieth century....Forty years after its first publication, Basic Christian Ethics remains surprisingly contemporary. The questions it addresses, and the questions it generates, remain; few commentators have explored them as thoroughly as did Paul Ramsey."---From the Foreword by Stanley Hauerwas and D. Stephen Long
"This treatise on Christian ethics is one of the most thoughtful and comprehensive presentations of the subject we have had in many years."---Reinhold Niebuhr
"Paul Ramsey is the most prolific, most contoversial, and most important American author in Christian ethics today....Basic Christian Ethics remains his most comprehensive work in the area of theology and ethics."---James M. Gustafson
