Description

This comprehensive volume features a collection of interpretive essays on the work of missions in the Presbyterian Church for over sixty years. It discusses events and challenges to the churchs mission activities and to its missionaries and examines the ways in which changes in denominational structures impacted mission work. Reflections from Presbyterian mission leaders, firsthand accounts from missionaries, and an overview of the work in specific mission areas from Latin America to East Asia make this an ideal resource for those involved in Presbyterian missions, scholars, and all those who seek to understand the breadth and depth of Presbyterian missions during this period.

Contributors include William B. Anderson, Frank Arnold, Caroline Becker, T. Donald Black, G. Thompson Brown, David Dawson, Sherron George, Theodore A. Gill Jr., Duncan Hanson, Patricia Lloyd-Sidle, Stanley Skreslet, Scott W. Sunquist, John C. B. Webster, and Robert J. Weingartner.

Scott W. Sunquist is W. Don McClure Associate Professor of World Mission and Evangelism at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is coeditor of History of the World Christian Movement and A Dictionary of Asian Christianity. He is cofounder of the World Mission Initiative at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Caroline N. Becker is a graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Asian and Middle Eastern (Chinese) studies.
