Why this resource matters:
Pain, all Christians experience some sort of physical, emotional, or spiritual pain - and most suffer in silence. Admitting pain is too much like admitting weakness....or spiritual immaturity....or a lack of faith.
This DVD driven, 1 hour, six session series opens up a safe place for small groups and classes to discuss pain they're experiencing....and to seek support and healing. Designed with enough edge for youth, this resource is also appropriate for adults.
What this resource offers:
This resource recalls the horrifying moment when mountain climber Craig DeMarino leaned back on a rope at the wrong moment - and fell 10 stories to land on jagged rock. A broken back, amputated leg, crushed bones; Craig's survival was a miracle....but a miracle that left him in chronic pain. The story of his survival has been told on the
Discovery Channel and NPR's
All Things Considered, but these six 1-hour sessions consider the five years
after Craig's fall. Years he's asked the hard questions most believer who experience pain ask:
- If God loves his people, why doesn't he protect them?
- Is God really good - all the time?
- How can you best help someone who's in physical or emotional pain?
- What does pain add to our lives?
- What choices do we have when we experience pain?
- How can we fully trust God again after encountering pain?
On location interviews let viewers experience life the way Craig experiences it, unvarnished and real. You'll consider the lessons Craig, his wife, and his children are learning. You'll also compare Craig's insights with those shared by a fellow sufferer: Job.
Audience:
Pastors, Youth Pastors, small group leaders and church leaders.
