SATB/ Moderate difficulty/ 53 minutes
Ten, strong, theologically rich songs by the Gettys and Townend [writers of “In Christ Alone (My Hope Is Found)” and “The Power of the Cross”] form the basis for this Easter musical. Actual footage from the MATTHEW film, incorporated into an accompaniment DVD, coupled with Dave Williamson’s cinematic scoring, create an epic experience for your church.
The vocal arrangements can be sung effectively by a choir of 20+, using a mixture of 2-part to 4-part voicings. The narration, adapted literally from Scripture, is conceived in a “reader’s theater” format, as the video conveys the biblical setting. Staging requires no sets, drama, or costumes, though production notes offer suggestions. Many of the songs provide year-round use for missions, Bible reading, communion, discipleship, invitations, and congregational singing. “Behold the Lamb,” the Getty’s and Townend’s newest modern hymn for communion, is also included as a bonus arrangement. (Clear Call Music)
