Message on back panel reads:
Behold! The Star!
"Look! Do you see that bright new star hovering over Bethlehem? What can it mean?"
So asked the shepherds of each other as they gathered in wonderment around their watch-fires, guarding their flocks at night.
Soon a bright angel appeared, resplendent with the brightness of God with the reassuring words, "Don't be afraid! I bring you wonderful, glad news! Today, for all people , a Saviour has been born in the City of David. He is Christ, the Lord, and you will find that Holy Infant in swaddling clothes, lying in a manager."
Then, to their continued amazement, a heavenly choir of angels appeared in the skies, singing harmonious praises: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to me of good will!"
Immediately the shepherds went to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the dear little Baby who was born in a manger.
Falling down on their knees, they adored Him whose birth was so marvelously announced by the bright angels in glorious array.
The shepherds were humble men, no able to bring rich gifts. Perhaps they presented a lamb, but they brought the most valuable gifts of all: loving, adoring, devoted hearts.
The beautiful inside panel of your offering Folder is worthy of your attention. The Star is still there! In traditional Nativity scenes Joseph is usually depicted as standing alone in the background. Here, however, our artist has wisely chosen to show him close by, smiling at the Infant he is so lovingly cradling in his arms.
While the Holy Spirit was the Father of Jesus. Joseph was the strong, loving guardian of the Holy Child.
All honor to the Virgin Mary who gave birth to Jesus, and who is customarily seen holding her baby, but high honor also to Joseph who cared for his family during Jesus' infancy and boyhood.
The Star shone on the hillsides for the shepherds, it remained over the place where Jesus was born, and later it guided the Wise Men who came from the East to render the homage.
Surpassing in glory all the myriad stars in the celestial canopy is that amazing special Star. Let its beauty and light be in our hearts this Advent and Christmas season, shining forth to gladden the lives of others.
As we bring our offerings to our church, we shall enable her to send out bright gleams of gladness more radiant, healing and inspiring that ever before.
