PAX is the Latin word for Peace.
The motif of an olive branch can represent "hope for peace" and even a peace offering from one man to another, as in the phrase "extend an olive branch".
The color of ivory/white signifies purity, joy, glory, and innocence, and is the liturgical color for the seasons of Easter and Christmas. White is the color for funerals, since it is the color of the Resurrection, for weddings, regardless of the season, and for secular holidays that are observed in the church.
