The Jerusalem Cross, also known as the Crusaders Cross, was used as an emblem by the Crusaders. Crusaders saw the Jerusalem Cross as a symbol of salvation and a call to spread the word of God from the central location of the Christian Faith, Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Cross is a heraldic cross or Christian symbol consisting of Greek and Tau crosses. Four Tau crosses meet in the center creating a large Greek cross. The four smaller crosses are said to represent the four evangelists who wrote the gospels and helped spread the word of Jesus Christ in all directions. All five crosses can symbolize the five wounds of Christ during the Passion.
