Celebrate the Newborn Jesus

An Advent Study Based on the Revised Common Lectionary

Paul Stroble

Celebrate the Newborn Jesus, invites us to renew our lives of faith and to remember the good news of the life and hope God gives to us through Jesus Christ. The Bethlehem baby teaches us that God is present with us in Jesus Christ. The good news means the power of God’s Holy Spirit through Christ is available for us throughout the year. The Advent season teaches us celebrate these realities and inspires us to spread Christ’s love.

Through the study of the Revised Common Lectionary texts, Stroble invites the reader to remember God’s promises in all circumstances of our lives.  He invites us to open our hearts, find hope, recognize, and celebrate the fulfillment of God’s promises through Jesus Christ.

A five-session leader’s guide is available for use in Sunday school classes or other small groups.

Paul Stroble is an elder of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of The United Methodist Church.  He is a writer-researcher for the United Methodist curriculum FaithLink and has written numerous articles, essays, poems, and curricular materials. Among his several books are Paul and the Galatians, What Do Other Faiths Believe? and What About Religion and Science? A Study of Reason and Faith, all for Abingdon Press, and You Gave Me a Wide Place: Holy Places of Our Lives, published by Upper Room Books.
